London Marathon just a warm up for main event

By Farnham Herald in Community News

THIS Sunday’s London Marathon is just a warm up for Farnham estate agent Stephen Tarrant who is also taking on the world’s largest obstacle race, Dirty Weekend 2017, two weeks later.

Over the last 16 weeks, Stephen of Winkworth Estate Agents in West Street, has ran 250 miles, running 20 miles once, 18 miles twice and 16 miles three times.

“It has been exhausting. I am doing this to raise money for The Outward Bound Trust, an organisation developing young people through outdoor activities,” he said.

“Your sponsorship means that these courses are open to all children regardless of their parents wealth.”

To date Stephen has raised £2,172 for the trust – an educational charity that uses the outdoors to help develop young people from all walks of life.

Through the generosity of donors, they are able to run adventurous and challenging outdoor learning programmes that equip young people with valuable skills for education, work and life.

They help them become more confident, more effective and more capable at school, college and in the workplace.

All their programmes inspire and motivate people and take place in the natural environment, away from distractions or modern amenities.

Participants learn a deep appreciation of the balance between risk, reward and responsibility and leave the programmes with transferrable, essential life skills.

Stephen continued: “These skills have been shown to have a profound impact on the future success of individuals in both education and employment, and on their overall wellbeing.

“They bring out the best in people irrespective of their backgrounds and teach that they can achieve whatever they set out to do.

“Please do consider sponsoring me as much as you possibly can. All funds are transferred direct to the charity.”
