A Farnham primary school has been named the best performing in England by a respected online guide.

South Farnham School came out on top of a ranking of 16,784 schools put together by The School Guide.

Headteacher at the school Esther Whitbourn says that the ranking is a testament to the school’s efforts to support its pupils.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted to be ranked 1st in The School Guide Primary School League Table. This is a brilliant achievement considering there are 16,784 primary schools in the country!

“This is not the first time South Farnham School has achieved this position and it is a testament to the ongoing hard work and excellence of our pupils and staff.

“Not only are the children achieving well academically, they also benefit from an extraordinarily rich curriculum and leave our school as well-rounded pupils.”

South Farnham School is part of the South Farnham Educational Trust and another of the group’s seven schools also scored high in the rankings with The Raleigh School in West Horsley ranking seventh.

A spokesperson for the trust said: “It is incredible to have not one, but two schools named in the top ten, and as the Trust continues to grow, it remains dedicated to providing a happy and nurturing environment for all children who benefit from a very rich and diverse curriculum with participation and success in music, drama, sports, and the arts.

“The Trust is extremely proud to be leading the primary school league table which reflects the dedication and hard work of pupils and staff to achieve outstanding results.”

The rankings were put together by The School Guide which uses the latest exam data, Ofsted reports and parent reviews to rank the schools. More information is available on The Schools Guide website.
