A 14-year-old youth from Farnham was arrested by police after a woman was sexually assaulted on a footpath alongside Farnham Park last Friday morning. He has been released on bail until October 24 while the investigation continues, and in the meantime detectives are trying to trace a man who was walking his dog and may have been a witness. The victim, in her 30s, was walking to work at around 8-30 am. When she reached the car park of the Six Bells pub in Hale Road, she became conscious that someone was behind her and as she walked up the footpath alongside Farnham Park, he attempted to grab her from behind and spoke to her. As she turned around, he again made a grab for her, she stepped back and rushed off. In the area at the same time, there was a man in his 20s walking a black dog. Detectives would like to appeal to this man to come forward as he may have vital information to help the investigation. This man, as well as anyone else who witnessed the incident, is urged to contact the officer in the case, Detective Constable David Pellatt at Waverley CID on 0845 125 2222. Alternatively any callers preferring to remain anonymous, are asked to contact Crimestoppers free of charge on 0800 555111.
