SHOOTING Star Chase’s Guildford-based hospice, Christopher’s, kick-started its 15th birthday celebrations at the charity’s annual summer fun day on Sunday.
More than 150 life-limited children, siblings, parents and grandparents, as well as staff and volunteers, had fun in the sun.
Held in the grounds at Christopher’s – the closest dedicated children’s hospice to Farnham – the birthday-themed-day offered supported families have-a-go stalls, arts and crafts, face painting, donkey rides, a treasure hunt, a look inside vintage cars, the opportunity to meet Surrey Police dogs, and encounters with reptiles.
Attendees were also entertained by last year’s Voice UK contestant Rozzy Turner, dancers, a supported family choir, a magician, a Surrey Police helicopter fly past, and clown Nicky Nacky Noo.
The afternoon ended with prizegiving for the best crazy golfer, a birthday singsong, and cutting of the birthday cake.
Geraldine Sheedy, head of care at Christopher’s, said: “Everyone at Christopher’s had a fabulous 15th birthday themed summer fun day and many families even said it was the best yet.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our staff and volunteers who gave their time and worked hard to ensure the event was a huge success – and, of course, our generous supporters who enabled us to give our supported children and families some lovely memories.”
