A GRIM warning that 500 jobs could go at Surrey Police due to continued budget cuts, has been issued by Kevin Hurley, the county's Police and Crime Commissioner. Mr Hurley voiced his concerns in a series of interviews last Thursday about the threat to the future of policing posed by the Government requirement to save £30 million out of a budget of just over £200m over the next four years. "The budget cuts mean as many as 500 Surrey officer and staff posts are at risk in the coming years," he said. For full story, see this week's Farnham Herald.
