An intrepid group of 15 Scouts from the 8th Farnham Scouts visited Farnham Food Bank to learn about its mission and to see the results of their volunteering efforts with Farnham Round Table’s 2022 Santa’s Sleigh tour.

The Scouts joined Santa and the Round Table's own band of elves on their charity sleigh tour of Farnham during December, helping collect donations for the town food bank.

On the back of these efforts, the young volunteers spent an hour weighing, dating and sorting food donations for distribution to those in need – and even discovered a jar of chocolate sauce with a best-before date of 1994!

During their visit the Scouts also learned about the efforts of the food bank to eliminate the need for its services through its More Than Food programme, helping people address the underlying issues behind their crisis.

They completed a quiz to see how much they had understood what they had seen and heard.
