BRIGHTWELLS Gostrey Centre was broken into last Thursday night and £500 stolen.
Manager Maggie Groves said: “We believe it was someone who knew the grounds pretty well, which make you feel even worse. To be burgled is bad enough but by someone you know, makes it all more horrible, and frustrating.
“We need every penny we can get right now, we are very unfortunate. It has been reported to the police, who spent most of the morning here with us. There was no finger prints, so they must have used gloves.
“There was no other damage, other then to some to the doors inside where the intruder obviously bashed to get through. There are three organisations that use this place, us and Carers Support and RBF, which lost a personal laptop.”
The centre will no longer leave any money on the premises, with hopes this will not be a repeat occurrence.
Chairman of trustees Lucinda Fleming said: “We are a tiny charity making such a vital difference to so many older people in Farnham and the loss of the money in this despicable act will hit us hard.”
