A “DANGEROUS paedophile” from Farnham has been sentenced to a total of 36 years behind bars after admitting to more than 20 non-recent serious sexual offences.
Lee Adam Long, 48, pleaded guilty to 22 counts of rape and indecent assault against two young girls between 1991 and 2005. He admitted the crimes after compelling historical DNA evidence uncovered by Surrey Police proved conclusively he was the offender.
He was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, October 6.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Vicki Green of Surrey Police Safeguarding Investigation Unit said: “The sentence today reflects the severity of the offences committed by this dangerous paedophile who preyed on vulnerable youngsters.
"His insidious and perverted behaviour knew no bounds and his victims are to be commended for bringing his offending to light. I am grateful that they placed their trust in Surrey Police and enabled my team to investigate the allegations.
“I hope the outcome at court will, to some extent, help the survivors begin to move on with their lives and feel that justice has been served. It is thanks to their courage in speaking out that Long will not be able to continue his reign of terror and abuse.
“This should serve as a warning to those who do or have sexually abused individuals, including young children, that Surrey Police take all such reports seriously and will fully investigate whether in regard to a recent or non-recent allegation.”
The survivors of Long’s crimes were supported by an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) from the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) in Guildford.
