A FARNHAM man had an eventful trip to the shops on Wednesday last week when he gave chase to a pair of suspected shoplifters on his motorbike.
Bryan Blencowe had only popped out to buy some cat food when he heard a "bang and alarms going off" outside Homebase in Guildford Road at around 5.45pm on April 18, and saw people pointing at a man stuffing what looked like pressure washers into the boot of his Mercedes car.
The man made off in the car with a woman, and as Bryan was still on his bike he called the police and gave chase to try and get the car registration number.
The chase continued past the fire station in Guildford Road and into the Dogflud Way industrial estate, where the Mercedes turned around and headed back towards Guildford Road, through a red light, before hitting a van and four parked cars.
There, Bryan saw the suspected thieves abandon the car and run away.
The passenger, a 40-year-old woman, was found in a nearby garden by another member of the public and arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage. She has since been released from police custody but remains under investigation.
Police are still looking for the man.
As well as the pressure washers, Bryan added the police also discovered "a lot" of drug paraphernalia in the car.
He described the man as in his mid-30s, about five feet 10 inches tall, wearing a grey t-shirt and sunglasses with close-shaved hair.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting PR/45180040257.
