AN investigation is under way to determine the cause of a devastating fire which has destroyed the roof and first floor of a large residential property in Churt last night (Thursday, December 10).
Surrey Fire and Rescue received a call at 6.33pm on Thursday evening regarding a widespread fire at a property in Jumps Road, Churt. Five fire engines and three specialist vehicles, including an aerial ladder platform and two water carriers, attended the blaze.
A spokesperson for Surrey Fire and Rescue, said: “It is a large detached house with three floors, the roof and first floor were completely destroyed by the fire, 100 per cent destroyed but the ground floor was fine.
“The fire went on for a while, finishing around 11.15pm on Thursday evening. There is still one fire engine down there watching. A fire investigation will take place later today. The house is currently unstable, the building control team will be going in to make sure it is safe again. There was no mention of anyone being hurt in the fire.”
Farnham fire station has confirmed that the incident is still on-going and that one of their fire engines is still at the scene and may be there for another day to make sure that the building is risk-free.
