FIREFIGHTERS from Farnham helped tackle a fire in The Street, Tongham, last Friday afternoon.

The blaze is believed to have begun in the bedroom of a first-floor flat above the Nisa convenience store and took hold at around 2pm. The bedroom was completely destroyed and the supermarket suffered water damage.

However, Surrey Fire and Rescue confirmed everyone escaped the building and no one was hurt.
