Pictures of “two reckless individuals” who illegally rode electric bikes and harassed visitors at a protected beauty spot have been released by Surrey Police.

Police have asked for the public’s help in identifying the pair after the bikes were ridden in an “anti-social manner” around Frensham Common around 2pm on Sunday, August 23.

The pair caused “harassment, alarm and distress” to the public with Sgt Stuart Brant of the Safer Neighbourhood team stressing their behaviour will not be tolerated.

Patrols have also been stepped up as part of a joint operation between the police and Waverley Borough Council in a further bid to quell anti-social behaviour at the common.

Riding any motor vehicle across common land is illegal and has the potential to cause massage damage to wildlife habitats and the local environment.

Sgt Brant said: “This type of vehicle is illegal to use on anything other than your own private property, or with the landowner’s consent.

“Riders are not only putting the lives of incident members of the public at risk, but also their own lives by not wearing proper headgear.”

He added: “Surrey Police and Waverley Borough council are working closely together, and there is a joint agency group set up to take a multi-agency approach to anti-social behaviour affecting this location.

“We will continue to patrol the area and any offences will be dealt with robustly.”

The outgoing proprietor of the Frensham Snack Bar beside the Great Pond recently told the Herald there have been issues with anti-social behaviour, abusive day-trippers and drug-taking at the beauty spot.
