A 62-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged assault at a medical centre that left a female staff member injured.

Police were called to Fleet Medical Centre in Church Road at about 3.40pm on Monday, January 19, following reports that a man had entered the building and behaved in a threatening manner towards staff.

A plastic screen was smashed during the incident and a female member of staff was injured. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest on Wednesday, January 21.

A 62-year-old man from Fleet was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker, criminal damage to property valued at under £5,000, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He has been released on bail with conditions while further enquiries are carried out.
