THE owners of Licked Bar in The Woolmead, Farnham, have fallen victim once again to a gang of masked thieves who forced entry into the club and escaped with the safe, all within just three minutes.
Three masked intruders forced their way into the club via a back door at around 9.57pm on Sunday, getting away with around £8,000. The bar was closed at the time.
Co-owners and brothers Ollie and George Moore are adamant that the thieves knew exactly where they were going as they proceeded to break into the club’s stock cupboard before removing the safe which contained £5,000.
According to the brothers, the three individuals could not have been strangers to the club. “They knew exactly where they were going, they went straight to the till and ripped the safe off, which had thousands of pounds locked inside - but they didn’t cause any other damage,” said George.
“We definitely believe that we know them and that they have come here before, so that’s a shame. It makes us want to give up and makes us question why we are still carrying on here. We can’t trust anyone, it is disheartening that people are doing this to us.
“We will continue to open and we will carry on here in Farnham but we are angry and disappointed. We do hope it doesn’t affect our business. We want people to still come down and enjoy their night.”
The suspects who were wearing hoodies are believed to be aged from 20 to 30 years old.
One image taken from the CCTV footage was able to catch the profile of one of three individuals. The brothers are hoping that people will recognise the man in question, which will then raise the chances of catching the other two.
This is the not the first time the brothers have been targeted. In December 2015 the pair suffered a £25,000 set back after their van packed with expensive equipment including subwoofers and lights was ransacked by thieves and set alight.
The vandals were never caught and the brothers never recovered all of their equipment.
“It affects our business massively. We are only just now getting back to normal after our van was broken into," said George.
“We are here to give people in Farnham joy. In our opinion we took a problem away and now this is happening – and it’s been thrown back in our face.
“We weren’t insured either and I am not sure if we are now. The police are currently investigating the burglary. We do have CCTV around the back but it doesn’t catch everything, we are now waiting for the road footage from the police.
“In the meantime we will be upgrading the security, including the alarms and the cameras. The doors will also be upgraded and replaced.”
The brothers have received a lot of local support both on and offline. They have set up a social media campaign through their Facebook page with hopes of catching and identifying the intruders. The campaign which was set up on Tuesday has to date reached around 5,000 people and has been shared more than 1,000 times.
The club is offering a £1,000 reward for the names of the three individuals and will treat any information completely anonymously.
Anyone with information can call Surrey Police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
