AN elderly man and a woman have appeared in court accused of stealing more than £100,000 from a dying Tilford woman suffering with dementia.

John Lowe, an 87-year-old former dog breeder, and 47-year-old carer Stacy Banner allegedly made numerous cash withdrawals from the bank account of Lowe’s partner Susanna Wilson in the months before her death aged 84 in 2013.

Guildford Crown Court heard the pair faked invoices from building contractors to fool her bank Lloyds TSB in Farnham into handing over the money.

Both Mr Lowe, who had lived at Keeper’s Cottage Stud in Waverley Lane with Ms Wilson for almost 50 years, and Mrs Banner deny eight counts of fraud by false representation between January 2013 and August 2013.

Mrs Banner has also denied a further count of possession of articles used for fraud, which related to a bank invoice.

A second man, Mrs Banner’s husband Andrew Banner denies acquiring the proceeds of crime after he was accused of having some of the stolen money moved into his bank accounts.

The trial continues.
