SURREY Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of an attempted robbery in Haslemere, last Friday.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking home from Haslemere Station along Wey Hill near to St Christopher’s Green between 8.30 and 8.45pm, when he was approached by an aggressive man demanding money.

After a struggle the victim managed to free himself and run away. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The suspect was described as a white male, between around 6ft 3ins tall and of slim build.

He was aged in his mid 50s and was bald with grey hair around the sides of his head. He wore a raincoat, was clean shaven and spoke with a southern accent.
