A PREGNANT woman was left “shaken up” after her van window was “shot out” by suspected youths at Gostrey Meadow last Thursday.

Sasha Smith was travelling through Farnham on January 2 with her husband, Bronson, when they were driving past the park and the van window suddenly “shattered all over” her.

A group of walkers at the scene reportedly saw “four youths running towards the bridge” – with further reports suggesting the use of a pellet gun or air rifle.

She believed there was “no way throwing a stone would give that much impact”, describing how she “completely froze” and “let the glass fall over me”.

The mother of two – who is also six months pregnant – added that she was “so glad” her children were not with her at the time and that it made her think “how quick something can happen like that”.

The incident comes after a summer of anti-social behaviour at Gostrey Meadow – with Waverley Borough Commander Inspector Gary Smith previously telling the Herald that the force had seen a “2.2 per cent reduction in reports of anti-social behaviour across Waverley”.

A statement made by Waverley Beat (Surrey Police) said officers were “checking local CCTV to identify any people involved”, as well as carrying out a search of the area.

They also acknowledged witness reports of youths seen in the area “who may have been in possession of an air rifle”.

Inspector Gary Smith continued: “This latest incident is understandably concerning and we are keen to ensure there is no re-escalation in this area.

“We will continue to patrol the area to deter such incidents and would ask that anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously before or after this incident to get in touch.”
