A “SERIAL thief” jailed for a spate of ram-raids targeting shops and commercial premises including the Elstead Spar has been told to repay just £10 of his cash haul.

Jimmy Loveridge, 24, previously of Chertsey Road, Chobham, was part of a masked gang responsible for a £1 million crime spree across the south of England in 2014.

This included a ram raid at Elstead Spar in The Green on December 14, 2014, when a large quantity of cash was stolen totalling an estimated £18,780, and another ram raid a day later at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge, which scooped the gang a further £51,650.

Loveridge is currently serving 52 months in prison for his part in these two burglaries after his sentence was extended by a year in July.

However, at a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing at Guildford Crown Court earlier this month, Loveridge was ordered to repay just £10 of the estimated £184,254 he personally benefited from while committing his crimes.

This nominal sum was reached after Surrey Police’s financial investigation team found Loveridge had “no realisable assets”.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said the ‘nominal order’ could be revisited at a later date, with leave of a judge, if Loveridge received more money in the future.
