RAM RAIDERS stole clothes from Forest Lodge Garden Centre in Holt Pound in the early hours of Saturday.

They reversed a white Ford Transit van, stolen from Upper Hale, through the shutters and front doors to force their way into the building on the A325 Farnham Road.

The burglary took place between 4.06am and 4.12am, with the thieves taking a haul of men’s and women’s outdoor clothing, including jackets and gilets.

The van was found abandoned at Avondale Tennis Club in Ewshot with damage to its doorlock and ignition barrel.

Surrey Police are appealing for information following an attempted theft of a cash machine from the McColl’s convenience store in School Hill, Wrecclesham, overnight last Saturday. It was left with significant damage after the suspects drilled a hole in it and placed a pipe inside.

Five men accused of masterminding 11 ramraids across the area will be tried at Lewes Crown Court in East Sussex during the summer.

Jimmy Shea, 24, of Nursery Road, Alton; Les Keet, 29, of Cobbetts Close, Normandy; Eric Summerfield, 63, of Walnut Tree Close, Guildford; Melvyn Beech, 47, of Kingston Road, Leatherhead; and Jason Mobey, 40, of Macdonald Road, Farnham, will take the stand on June 3.

The trial, which will be preceded by an application to join the cases together at Lewes Crown Court on March 15, relates to a spree of cash machine thefts between May and December last year.

These included raids at Tesco Express in Ridgway Road, Farnham, on July 9, the Halifax bank in West Street, Farnham, on August 17, Sleaford service station near Bordon, on September 21, and the HSBC bank in High Street, Alton, on November 17 – plus offences in Rudgwick, Nutbourne and Billingshurst in Sussex, Denmead and Kingsworthy in Hampshire, and East Horsley in Surrey.

Mr Shea, Mr Keet and Mr Mobey were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary (non-dwelling) and conspiracy to steal motor vehicles. Mr Keet was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. Mr Mobey, Mr Summerfield and Mr Beech were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary (dwelling) and robbery.
