A teenager was arrested after an incident at Hale Carnival on Saturday night – but police have rejected rumours of a 'stabbing'.
Police were called around 8.30pm after reports someone had been assaulted and suffered cuts and bruises during Hale Carnival in north Farnham.
Rumours quickly circulated on social media that somebody had been stabbed multiple times in the incident.
But a Surrey Police spokesman said there is "nothing to suggest a stabbing had taken place", contrary to online reports.
A 16-year-old male was found at Hale recreation ground with injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident.
He was taken to hospital and treated for injuries and has since been released on bail. The police investigation is ongoing.
