A teenage boy has been arrested after a food bank was broken into and vandalised in Fleet.
The Hart Foodbank premises in Fleet Road was broken into between 8.15pm and 8.45pm on Sunday, May 25. Two windows had been smashed and the building had been vandalised. Food was strewn across the premises and placed in sinks with the taps left running, resulting in water damage from the overflow.
Last night (Thursday, June 5), officers arrested a 14-year-old boy from Church Crookham on suspicion of burglary.
He was also arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to an incident at the same site on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 5.
On that occasion, it was reported that entry was forced and some glass sauce bottles were smashed.
The boy was interviewed and has been released on police bail with conditions until Friday, September 5, while police investigations continue.
Sergeant Geoff Hill, from Hart Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a disgusting attack on a charity that is just trying to help people in the community.
“We’re determined to identify those responsible and have a number of lines to enquiries to follow in the coming days and weeks.
“Meanwhile, if you have any information that could help our enquiries, call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 44250228873 or report it via our website.”
