FARNHAM resident Susan Bartlett is appealing for the public’s help in tracing her recently deceased husband’s watch, which was stolen from her vehicle as she went on an afternoon walk.
On Friday, April 7, Susan made her way to Hankley Common with a friend, and subsequently at around 2.15pm parked her Honda CR-V opposite a small car park on Grange Road.
Upon returning to the car a man approached the pair asking if either of them owned a Honda CR-V, to which Susan replied “yes”.
She was dismayed to find that her car had been broken into and when investigating further, found that her grey Radley handbag and its contents were missing. But the most painful thing missing was her husband, Ronnie’s watch.
“My husband died on December 21, after getting a brain tumour in 2013,” said Susan.
“On his 60th birthday in 2015, he didn’t want an expensive watch but a simple one from Argos, so I brought it and that, as well as my Dolce and Gabbana watch, which was a present from Ronnie, was in the bag.
“Ronnie had an operation in 2015 and to make him look down the left side because he couldn’t see, as he had another brain operation, we used to put the watch on the side so it would attract his attention.
“It’s just the memory, I’m not bothered about mine – I just carried it for safety. It is disgusting, they won’t get anything for it, it’s not worth anything. Probably worth a fiver.”
Susan described the watch as a silver coloured metal, with a blue face and little circles around the edge. The Radley bag is grey, with one large handle and two smaller handles.
