A three-vehicle crash on the A31 Farnham Bypass left one woman in hospital and caused widespread traffic disruption across the town on Wednesday afternoon (October 21).

Emergency services were called shortly after midday following the collision, which blocked the eastbound carriageway towards Guildford.

The incident caused long tailbacks between Hickley's Corner and the Shepherd and Flock roundabout, with congestion spreading into Farnham town centre and affecting traffic in both directions.

Surrey Police confirmed that three vehicles were involved and one of the drivers suffered minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision just after midday today (October 21) on the northbound carriageway of the A31 Farnham Bypass.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from SECAmb. One of the drivers sustained minor injuries and is being checked at hospital. No arrests made.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that a woman had been taken to Frimley Park Hospital following the collision.

A spokesperson said: “A female patient was assessed and treated at the scene, and taken to Frimley Park Hospital in Frimley for further medical treatment.”

The eastbound carriageway was initially blocked for around half an hour before police reopened one lane at around 12.35pm.

However, traffic continued to build as recovery crews worked to remove the damaged vehicles.

By 2.50pm, the road had been cleared and traffic was beginning to return to normal.

All remaining congestion had cleared by around 3.30pm.
