HASLEMERE Museum’s Bonfire Night was a sell-out and featured not only a dazzling fireworks display by Firebird Entertainment, on Saturday, but also 14 guys.

Topping the bonfire built by museum volunteers Colin Dodge, Phil Bates and Keith Hancock was both the winning guy and 13 others created by pupils of St Bartholomew’s School, in Haslemere, who entered the Guy Fawkes competition.

It was judged by museum chairman Melanie Odell with prizes for the three best entries.

Museum curator Julia Tanner said: “It was a lovely family-orientated evening and we were absolutely delighted by the success of the event.”

Event organiser and museum premises manager Nicholas Harding added: “There was such a feeling of goodwill amongst the many volunteers, staff and trustees all working together to help make this event happen in a safe environment.

“We had a lovely crowd and everyone seemed to have a really good time.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in delivering such a great event and all those who turned up to support it.

“Also, a big thank you to St Bartholomew’s school, for creating 14 fantastic guys for our bonfire.”
