SMOKE billowed out of Goldsmiths jewellers and filled Farnham town centre on Monday afternoon after a fault in its alarm system.

Staff evacuated the shop at the entrance to Lion and Lamb Yard at around 3.30pm when its security fog system was mistakenly activated.

The system works by flooding the jewellers with dense smoke when tripped, obscuring vision and outfoxing any intruders.
