A GOLDEN anniversary was celebrated by Grayshott’s Little Sunflowers community run nursery, last Saturday.
The flourishing pre-school in the village hall threw a big party to mark being at the heart of the community for 50 years.
Trustee Ruth Glenister told The Herald: “It was a great success and the perfect opportunity to thank all the staff and supporters of the pre-school from the last 50 years.
“As a charity we rely on people’s time and money to keep going.
“Everyone is always so generous each year, and hopefully always will be as Little Sunflowers is a wonderful place for the local pre-schoolers.
“Saturday’s energetic activities were really enjoyed by the children and allowed a little respite for the parents to enjoy some refreshments.
“The crafting tables and soft toy tombola were also very popular and our district councillor Ferris Cowper won several cuddly toys for his grandaughter. There was a display of photos and documents pertaining to the school from the last 50 years reflecting the journey everyone has jointly made.
“A speech given by the lead trustee, Fiona Vassallo, recognised all our key supporters, including Ferris, and previous staff members Bridget Mitchell, Fanny Jones and Wendy Smith. Thanks were also given to our current manager, Debbie Bean, for her hard work, as we have a new manager starting after the summer break and a new era beginning. We thank everyone who came. The event raised additional funds of more than £200, which made it a perfect afternoon.”
