THE WATERCRESS Line has put its spectacular Christmas lights back in their box under the stairs for another year.

Last weekend saw the final dazzling display of its 2021-22 Steam Illuminations, which saw vintage steam trains chuffing between Alton and Alresford stations while bedecked in thousands of fully controllable colour mixing LED lights to brighten up the dark winter days.

This pixel mappable technology was replicated inside the train and on LED wristbands given to each passenger to take home.

Passengers were able to take photographs of the outside of the train at the start, middle and end of their journey.

The Watercress Line is now enjoying a well-earned period of hibernation before reopening to the public on March 19.
