THERE was pancake flipping, cheers of encouragement, and fire alarms echoing around the school grounds as pupils, teachers and parents from St James Primary School in Elstead raced side by side as they competed for overall winner in this year’s pancake races.

“It was a wonderful community day had by all, everyone came together and supported each other,” commented staff members. “The parents came along too, and brought in the pancakes for the races which took place in the school playground and the children make pancakes in the classrooms” commented staff members.

“There was good community spirit and the children had a great time. We even set the fire alarms off while cooking the pancakes in the kitchen.”
