ALTHOUGH her Majesty was busy on Thursday kast week, her birthday was celebrated at Anchorstone Nursing Home in Farnham with a sea of red white and blue, with decorations, outfits and cakes.

Staff at the Searle Road home dressed in Union Jack capes, leggings, tops, scarves, sparkly hats and even shoes while residents had made crowns from pipe cleaners with the activities co-ordinator.

All the ‘old songs’ were played and the residents joined in - tapping their feet, flag waving, dancing and singing. Happy Birthday and God Save the Queen were sung with great pride and very loud, and all joined in a toast to the Queen.

A buffet tea included red white and blue cakes, a Union Jack cake and flag made from strawberries, blueberries and melon which took pride of place. Baileys, wine and ginger wine accompanied the tea.

The party, scheduled to end at 4pm carried on until 5.30pm as the residents were really enjoying themselves.
