THE Royal Junior School in Haslemere is going the distance to raise some serious cash for next month’s Sport Relief appeal.
Natalie McIntosh, head of junior sport, is creating a half-mile loop around the playing fields and grounds, which pupils and staff can walk, jog or run around every break and lunchtime.
Everyone taking part will donate £1 and get sponsored per loop. At the end of the week, all loops will be added up and the school will calculate the total distance covered.
A prize will be awarded to the child or staff member who guessed closest to the total.
Miss McIntosh said: “Pupils and teachers at The Royal Junior School love taking part in Sport Relief. It’s an excellent way to bring staff, pupils and the community together to get active, have fun and raise money for a great cause. The money pupils raise will help to change lives forever.”
• Schools not already signed up can still get involved by organising a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Friday, March 18, among other activities. See www.sportrelief.com/schools
