HARLTEY Park Farm at Selborne gave families a grand start to the Easter celebrations this year with a great day out on offfer at the Lavender Fields and Business Park’s Charity Fun Day.

The farm and business units opened their doors to more than 1,000 parents and children braving the chilly weather to try their hands at all the Easter fundraising activities. These ranged from egg painting, guess the weight of the piglet and name the lamb, to guess the number of sweets and a treasure hunt among others. Along with the fun competitions and games this year was the visit of a petting farm that proved a highly popular new attraction.

The main competition was to name and find the Easter bunny, and three prizes were awarded.

Winner of the first prize of £50 – plus a large cuddly – teddy bear were mother-and-daughter team of Rachel and Jessica Foard, of Alton; 2nd prize of £20 went to Sienna Parsons, of Salisbury, and 3rd prize of £10 went to Amelia Paye, of Liphook.

The event raised £676.18, which has been split equally between two charities, the Rosemary Foundation, which provides hospice at home services in Petersfield, and CRY for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

“This is an annual event for Hartley Business Park and the Lavender Fields and it’s our way of giving a little bit back to the community,” said Simon Butler, manager of Hartley Business Park.

“All of the businesses here support the day and this year our key business supporters were: The Lavender Fields Gift Shop, Healey and James Oriental Textiles, the Christmas decorators, party cakes, floral image, Charlton Construction Ltd and Barn-Store.

“But we also have to thank our team of emthusiastic and capable youngsters, who helped to make the day was the success it was.”
