THE benefit of removing the congestion at the A3 crossroads in Hindhead only just outweighs the cost of building the tunnel scheme, Transport Minister Lord Macdonald of Tradeston said this week.
Lord Macdonald said the reason for this was a "combination of the cost of the scheme and the relatively low volume of traffic when compared with schemes elsewhere on the trunk road network".
