MAGISTRATES have made their point to 11 motorists who ignored a temporary speed limit on the A3 near Petersfield.

The Herald reported in March that 1,017 drivers were snapped by a camera that accompanied roadworks near the Ham Barn roundabout.

The device, which was torched during the early hours of New Year's Eve, was removed in January when the road-widening programme was completed.

But the camera is still making money as many drivers who were caught exceeding the 50mph limit have only recently appeared in court.

Drivers from Petersfield, Liphook and Bordon were among the 11 fined by magistrates for ignoring the limit in January.

Some £1,200 was paid out during two sittings in October while the cases of more than a dozen motorists have been adjourned.
