OVERNIGHT closure of the A31 Winchester Road at Four Marks which have been in place all this week will continue until August 2.
The stretch of road, between the junctions at Lymington Bottom and Telegraph Lane, will be closed from 8pm to 6am the following morning for 10 days, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing.
While residents have received letters detailing the closure, so that they can work out their own diversion routes for accessing their properties, shops and services, there are diversion signs on the A31 directing through traffic to use the A272 and A32 to bypass Four Marks.
Rob Humby, the executive member for environment and transport, said: “As part of Hampshire County Council’s ongoing ‘Operation Resilience’ programme of planned maintenance, which is proving effective at reducing the rate of decline in our road network, carriageway resurfacing is taking place on the A31 Winchester Road at Four Marks, between the junctions with Lymington Bottom and Telegraph Lane.”
