TRAFFIC will be diverted from the A325 to the north of Bordon for 18 weeks from next Monday as work continues on the relief road, Hampshire County Council has announced.

Progress continues on the new road to facilitate the regeneration of the town and take traffic away from the A325.

The first 0.6-mile northern part of the three-mile relief road is being constructed through Louisburg Barracks, with preliminary work under way on the rest of the £23m road which starts at the Whitehill Liphook Road crossroads in the south and travels north, along the disused railway line, before routing through Louisburg Barracks and re-connecting with the A325.

Rob Humby, executive member for the environment and transport at Hampshire County Council, said: “Good headway is being made on this new relief road which is vital to the successful regeneration of Whitehill and Bordon.

“The road will underpin the area’s economic regeneration, supporting the redevelopment of the Louisburg Barracks and improving access to the area.

“We will do our best to minimise disruption while the diversion is in place, but I would ask everyone to allow more time for their journeys.”

Work to complete the junction between the A325 and new road - to the north of the A325’s crossroads with with Station and Lindford roads - will last until October. There will be a diversion route via Broxhead Farm Road while a new roundabout is built so that traffic can turn off the A325 into the Louisburg development, and also for new surface-water drainage, landscaping and resurfacing to be completed.
