THE hazardous junction of Blackmoor Road and the A325 Petersfield Road is set to be painted with double white lines in order to prevent more accidents. The injury and accident record for the latest three- year period indicates two serious and one slight accident at the junction. The current road markings allow for overtaking in the area of the junction, which may add to the potential hazard. Traffic travelling north is often presented with slow moving traffic pulling out from the junction, as it approaches the brow of the hill. After correspondence with Whitehill Town Council and Hampshire County Council has proposed to install the double white lines throughout this area to help highlight the junction and to improve the accident record. Town councillor Bill Wain said: "The double white lines will be very welcome, and I'm glad that the county council recognised the dangers of this particular stretch of road." North of the junction will see the road painted with dashed and continuous white lines and two arrows. Traffic travelling south will see a new 'slow' marking on the carriageway. The verges to both sides of the junction will be trimmed in order to m make the signs more visible. Hampshire County Council is in the process of ordering the new installations.
