FARNHAM Lions and two golf captains have donated a huge £9,200 to Stepping Stones School in Hindhead.
The money, which was raised at the Farnham Lions charity golf day at Hindhead Golf Club in August, has enabled the school to buy a car that will be used daily to enable older pupils to access more employers for placements across three counties.
Farnham Lions president Phil Alexander, golf day chairman Carl Taylor, Lions Sally Ross and Geoff Jeal and Hindhead golf captains Lorne Magory and Lesley Sullivan presented the cheque to staff members and students at Undershaw on December 4.
Earlier this year, Stepping Stones headteacher Melissa Grigsby thanked the Farnham Lions and Hindhead Golf Club and said the car would “transport students to work placements as they build their transferable skills and independence from school to the world of work”.
To date, the popular Farnham Lions charity golf day has raised £142,847 to support selected projects in the area.
