A THEATRE group has been reduced to promoting its latest show on a garage due to a clampdown on roadside adverts.
The Winton Players were due to lift the curtain on their production of Calendar Girls at Petersfield's Festival Hall today.
But members could barely conceal their rage after a council blitz on roadside advertising boards and posters in the town.
Dozens of posters and signs advertising their show and other events were suddenly removed in late September.
The Players sold plenty of tickets before the controversy but say other groups could miss out because of lost publicity.
They and other groups are pressing for a meeting but have decided to promote the show on a member's garage, off Station Road, in the meantime.
