Aldershot, Farnham & District AC won all seven races in Saturday's Hampshire League cross-country meeting at Goodwood.

Their U/15 girls filled six of the top seven places, but it was only in the last half-mile that the order of the scoring trio was decided.

Charlotte Browning, in her first race of the season (apart from relays), managed to win by one second from Hannah Jones who had led an AFD quartet into the closing stages. Stacey Preston was third, but Emma Pallant was separated from her colleagues by Bournemouth's Natalie Real. Stephanie Twell and India Lee completed AFD's second trio.

The club also achieved a one-two-three in the U/15 boys' event. Stephen Blake strode away from the field to triumph by over half-a-minute from Sam Crawford who finished well to take second from David Smith.

Sarah Burgin ran a strong second half of the U/13 girls' contest to deny the Reading pair of Amy Bond and Shirley-Ann Dix, as well as her team-mate Abi Salter, who was fourth, while Louise Eley completed AFD's scoring trio in sixth.

Chris Welch, runner-up in the U/13 boys', led home Tom Goddard, fourth, and Joshua Arnold, fifth.

AFD's U/17 men were headed by Martin Mashford in third, as Andrew Friend came in sixth, one before twin brother Chris who closed the scoring team.

The senior men were led by another third placer. Nick Anderson was backed up by Phil Banks, fourth, Brian Stopher, fifth, Graham Russ, ninth, and Dan Acheson 12th.

Sarah Pickett was also third when leading the senior women. The AFD U/20 athlete was near the front from the outset and was joined in the scoring trio by two of her club's U/17s, Laura Tanner (10th) and Rachel Driver (16th).

Chris Thompson added to his impressive athletics CV by claiming the medal for the fastest individual time at the national six-stage road relay championships. But the AFD youngsters were prevented from extending their list of honours by the weather which forced the cancellation of their relays at the same Sutton Coldfield the following day.

Thompson was the only runner inside 17 minutes for the circuit in Sutton Park and was joined in the senior men's team that finished seventh by Ed Jackson, Nick Anderson, Ali Smith, Phil Banks and Brian Stopher.
