NEW homes in Bordon have been praised by Sir Edward Lister, chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency, who visited the town recently and met partners involved in its regeneration.
The Homes and Communities Agency is one of the partners involved in the transformation of the former Louisburg Barracks, which it owns, where homes are being built by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes.
The first homes have just been released by the housebuilders.
Once complete, the whole-town regeneration will feature around 3,500 new homes, new schools, local infrastructure and a new town centre.
“This is a truly impressive development that combines much-needed new housing with employment and growth,” Sir Edward said.
“It is a great example of how investment in infrastructure can transform surplus public land into a new community where people can live and work.
“The speed with which this has been achieved is a real demonstration of what can be achieved when everyone pulls in the same direction.”
Tim Hill, managing director of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, said he was delighted to be able to display the new homes at the development and discuss the role all partners are playing in transforming the site.
“The dynamics of all the partners work extremely well here and illustrate the value of having dedicated experts looking after key aspects of the project - from the roads to the housing and the infrastructure,” he said.
The Homes and Communities Agency’s development partners are Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, East Hampshire District Council, Hampshire County Council, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership.
