THE NHS North East Hampshire & Farnham Clinical Commissioning Group has teamed up with Waverley, Hart and Rushmoor councils to organise a special well-being day and a two-week festival this May.
The festival will start with the ONE YOU Wellbeing Day on Sunday, May 7, where residents can pop into Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre between 11am and 3pm to get tips and support on a range of topics such as getting active, eating well, weight management and how to de-stress.
The day will include opportunities to try a variety of activities in the Move More Zone, an offer of a free NHS health check for people aged between 40 and 74, and the chance to meet Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service and check out their fire engine.
Following this, from May 8 to 21, there will be plenty of free, discounted and low-cost physical activity sessions happening across Waverley, Hart and Rushmoor, to encourage residents to get active.
There are a large variety of sessions available including friendly walking groups, beginners running, swimming, exercise classes, walking football, cycling and more.
Dr Karen Robinson, clinical lead for prevention and self care in North-East Hampshire and Farnham said: “We’ve linked up with the national ONE YOU campaign to empower our community to make and celebrate small (...or big) changes, to help everyone feel good and improve their health by taking advantage of all the help available locally.
“Simple things such as the whole family eating healthier foods and finding an activity that you enjoy can make a real difference. Being active is also a great way to meet up with friends or even make new ones."
More than one million people have already started their journey to a happier, healthier life with the ONE YOU campaign. Take the ONE YOU quiz at www.nhs.uk/oneyou to get a personalised health score and start your journey to a healthier you.
