A PEACEFUL Sunday afternoon in Petersfield was shattered by an unusual sound on Sunday – a helicopter hovering overhead. But curiosity quickly turned to concern when startled shoppers realised it was an emergency air ambulance, called to the town after a man had collapsed in the High Street. The incident happened at around 2pm in The Avenue. Bystander Don Brooks, who took this picture of the air ambulance trying to land, said: "An elderly gentleman had symptoms of a heart attack in the High Street. It was a spectacular sight as the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance helicopter landed." A spokesman for Hampshire Ambulance said a call was received at 1.13pm about a man was suffering heart problems. He was flown to Portsmouth, where an ambulance took him to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham. No details of the man were released.
