Aldershot boss George Borg means to relax more this season.
The hard-bitten Borg is known for his 100 per cent commitment to the cause, but spectators at Aldershot's Ryman Premier League opener at home to Enfield this Saturday, could see a more mellow manager on the touch-line.
"I've taken a lot on my shoulders since I came here," he said, "and I've almost forgotten what it's like to mingle and socialise.
"But I mean to do that this season and enjoy myself. Above all, I want to give Aldershot what everyone wants – the championship."
After a busy close-season, Borg says he is happy with the squad he has, even though two suspensions carried over from last season will cause obvious problems.
Stafford Browne and Ollie Adedeji both miss the opening three games. "Stafford is an excellent goal-scorer and will be missed," said Borg. "Ollie has had a very good pre-season, but we have plenty of good defenders."
Aldershot lost 3-0 at Woking in their final warm-up game on Saturday, but even in that defeat Borg saw plenty to encourage him. "We made plenty of good chances in the first half, but couldn't make them count. We'll have to put that right against Enfield."
Aldershot have signed Chris Knowles, a goalkeeper formerly with Peterborough and Tamworth, as cover for Hareth Howells.
