The unprecedented number of postponed games this season means that Aldershot have to continue their punishing league schedule.
Last night (Thurs) they were hoping to complete the double against Chesham.
Then it's an unprecedented weekend for Aldershot, with matches on both days. They entertain Basingstoke on Saturday, hoping to avenge a 2-1 defeat at The Camrose in February. On Sunday, they travel to Hendon who were thrashed 5-0 by Basingstoke last weekend. On Tuesday, old rivals Billericay visit the Rec.
"No, I've never experienced having to play two matches in two days," said manager George Borg. "It's tough on the players, but we're getting used to it this season.
"The lads are feeling confident and actually looking forward to it because we are winning and playing well at the moment."
The manager is not likely to dig deep into his playing reserves either. "The squad we are using are fit and playing with a good understanding."
The players are coping well physically, with only Lee Protheroe and Grant Payne sidelined by injury. Protheroe is likely to play some part over the weekend, but Payne faces further treatment on his knee injury. It is not the knee that kept him out for a year.
Basingstoke consolidated their third position with a 2-1 win over Chesham on Tuesday.
Farnborough and second-placed Canvey Island clash at Cherrywood Road next Tuesday (May 1).
Late goals from Stafford Browne and Jason Chewins clinched three points at Chesham on Wednesday last week. Browne headed Aldershot into the lead in the first half and his second of the night came in the 82nd minute. Chewins made quite certain just before the final whistle after skipping past former Shots 'keeper Gary Phillips.
