A PLAYER from Farnham’s floorball hockey team finally achieved his personal goal, by saving up enough money to travel to Sweden to get coached by some world famous floorball stars.
Alex collected money from his paper round and used it to buy flights and for the week-long coaching course at the Strovreta Floorball Club based in Uppsala, near Stockholm.
Sweden has around 2,000 floorball teams and Stovreta’s top team is in the top three, playing the professional Swedish Superleague.
Alex was thrilled to receive personal coaching from Alex Rudd, Mattias Samuelsson and Robin Nilsberth, whose names are familiar to floorball fans all over the world.
Peter Goodman of Farnham floorballs, said: “The training must have worked as he managed to score four goals in the final match at the end of the week’s training camp.
“The dedication and training of many of the players in Farnham’s floorball team, must have been one of the reasons why they won both the Three Counties League and the U16 National Cup back in the UK, remaining unbeaten for the whole season in both competitions.”
The club welcomes beginners and players into their two training sessions aimed at primary school and secondary school boys and girls.
Players can borrow sticks for as long as they need to. The Farnham Unihockey and Floorball Club has restarted following the summer break, for more information or to sign up go to www.fufc.net.
