ALTON Local Food Initiative (ALFI) has joined forces with Energy Alton to host to a screening of the film ‘Project Wild Thing’.

?Filmmaker David Bond was worried that his children’s waking hours were dominated by a cacophany of marketing and a screen dependence threatening to turn them into glassy-eyed zombies?. So he has produced this film which addresses the problem.

To be shown on Monday, April 3, at the Alton Maltings Centre, the aim is to encourage adults to help children discover the fun and adventure of playing and exploring the great outdoors.

Speaking on behalf of ALFI, Lesley Willis said: “With so many lovely open spaces in and around Alton, we want people to share the fun of being in the open air with their children.”

The film show is free and starts at 7.30pm. There will be a display showing outdoor sites and activities and the evening will finish with a discussion of the issues.

ALFI has chosen, as its theme for 2017, ‘See How It Grows - Gardening, Cooking and Eating with Children’ and is giving each of the primary and infant schools in Alton an apple tree to enhance their school grounds.
