THE cakes were on hand at an Alice in Wonderland-inspired Time for a Cuppa tea party at the Ashley House residential care home in Bordon.

The team and residents at the Forest Road care home dressed up as the weird and wonderful characters from the Lewis Carroll classic to welcome people from the community to their Dementia UK fundraiser.

There was an abundance of sweet treats and refreshments, with all the money raised on the day being used by Dementia UK to fund admiral nurses, specialist dementia nurses who help families living with dementia.

Vicki Barton-Hall, a 90-year-old resident, said: “I had so much fun - I played golf with a white rabbit - and the cakes were delicious.”

Manager Margaret Powell said: “Our Alice in Wonderland tea party was a lovely success, everyone enjoyed lots of cakes and the afternoon was filled with smiles and laughter - it was the perfect way to raise money for Dementia UK.”

Time for a Cuppa is Dementia UK’s annual fundraising event - a national day which brings people together over a cup of tea to raise money for the charity.

Admiral nurses give expert practical, clinical and emotional support to families living with dementia to help them cope.
