THE Farnham Charity Bike Ride has announced that Farnham-based bespoke bike maker WyndyMilla will be this year’s main sponsor for the annual event taking place on Sunday, July 3.

This year’s ride will again start and finish in Castle Street in the centre of Farnham. Last year more than 1,300 riders took part - its largest number yet - and four routes are again available for cyclists of all abilities, ranging from a family-friendly 16 miles to a gruelling 75-mile course through the Surrey and Hampshire countryside.

WyndyMilla is regarded as the ‘new kids on the block’ of bespoke British bike building and clothing. Founded in 2009 by Farnham residents Henry Wyndham Furniss and Nasima Camilla Siddiqui, WyndyMilla has evolved into a world-class hub providing hardware for cyclists from the grass roots to the pro ranks, with a thriving club wing.

Richard Bousfield, who is heading the organising group, said: “We are extremely excited to have WyndyMilla on board. They are highly respected for their world-class bikes and will be providing technical support on the day to all our riders, and something exciting for the goodie bag.

“WyndyMilla have also given riders a fantastic offer of five per cent off everything online until July 31, using the code FCBR2016.”

WyndyMilla operations manager James Gregory added: “We were really keen to be involved in the Farnham Charity Bike Ride, as we’ve seen the event grow from strength to strength over the past few years. As a local company, we are proud to be involved with such a grass-roots, family orientated event.”

The Farnham Charity Bike Ride has raised more than £120,000 for local and national charities since it was established by Farnham Round Table and St Andrew’s Infants School in 2009.

Cyclists under 16 years can register for free if accompanied by an adult, and all riders can save £5 on their registration fee if they enter online before Wednesday, June 29. For more information visit www.farnhambikeride.org.uk/register-for-the-event/ or the event’s Facebook page.

Farnham Charity Bike Ride founder Andy Taylor said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to our long-standing sponsors Nuffield Health, who have again joined us as a sponsor, having been with us since the beginning of the bike ride in 2009. Without these sponsors we simply couldn’t put on this popular event.”

Richard also thanked the volunteers without whom “we could not put on this much-loved event”.
