DOZENS of Olympians big and small caught the eye of the judges at Hale Carnival on Saturday, earning Hale School the Phyllis Tuckwell Rose Bowl for best overall children's entry.
The Olympic rings were everywhere at a fun-filled event that defied the bleak weather, both during the afternoon fete on the green and in the evening when the parade drew its usual crowd and revellers danced to live music on the green.
The fete was opened by Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt.
