ALTON allotment holders were in militant mood last week as they sought to save the Whitedown site from proposed development.
There was standing room only as Alton Town Council leader, Peter Whitmarsh, gave an assurance that this was "not a deal done" but the start of a consultation period during which members of the public were urged to make their views known.
